TDC Strengthens Commitment to agent@home Program

There’s lots happening at Transat Distribution Canada (TDC), one of the country’s largest full-service, 100% Canadian and bilingual travel agency networks lately.

The company recently launched its new gift card program, under the name ‘zaluna.’ Gift cards can now be purchased exclusively online from the full-service travel agency network.

There have also been many management changes, which Transat Distribution Canada’s Karine Gagnon says were made “with the objective of improving efficiency and synergies within our organization.”

Among the changes, Anthony Mormina was promoted to Senior Director, Sales & Corporate Operations. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading and strengthening sales & operations for all TDC’s company owned and managed retail points of sale. This includes TDC’s Loyalty partners & Club Voyages Affair division, Voyages Transat, and Transat Travel agencies across Canada, as well as the Agent@Home sector.

Summer travel season is fast approaching but with so many places from which to choose finding the right destination can be difficult.

But don’t delay, because planning those trips early can save time and money.

Travel Agent Trey Tracey of Kim Sims Magnolia Travel Group in Madison said Italy, Greece, Hawaii, Mexico and Jamaica are among the top travel destinations this summer.

“Ocean cruises are coming back with a vengeance,” Tracey said. “Many of our clients are booking cruises and other road destination trips. Europe as a whole is one of the most prominent destinations thus far. Despite the rise in flights since the COVID-19 pandemic, our agency has seen more clients for the summer. “

Tracey said the best time to book summer vacations to get the best prices is mid-June to early August.

Tracey said Memorial Day weekend is when they see an uptick in bookings.

Expedia TAAP unveils new agent tools & URL at Toronto open house

At yesterday’s Toronto event, part of a cross-Canada series that also included open houses in Montreal and Vancouver, the Expedia TAAP team celebrated its many successes with approximately 100 guests. Rebecca Cregan, TAAP Commercial Director – North America, tells Travelweek that in Q1 in 2023, the Expedia Group saw “strong growth in our B2B business, driven by an expanding partner base and growth from our existing partners,” and that its overall B2B business, of which TAAP is part of, grew by 55% compared to the same quarter in 2022.

“Our team has been pleased to see the strong recovery since the pandemic. At Expedia Group, one of our core objectives is enabling growth for our B2B partners, with travel advisors playing a central role in this.
