The 49ers will travel more miles than all but 1 team this season

The 49ers’ schedule isn’t out yet, but based on their opponents we can already determine that their travel schedule could be a rough one. A chart posted by ESPN’s Adam Schefter shows San Francisco is slated to travel 29,958 miles this season, which is the second-highest number in the NFL behind the Seahawks.

It’s not a huge shock that teams on the coast tend to travel more miles. For the 49ers though they have an unusually robust travel schedule this year thanks to the schedule rotation and their first-place finish in the NFC West last year.

Here’s a look at the full chart via Schefter:

On the 49ers’ schedule are the four NFC East teams, of which they’ll travel to Philadelphia and Washington. They also face the AFC North and travel to Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Thanks to their first-place finish they’ll also head to Minnesota (the NFC North winner) and

Two things to look forward to in the summer: Traveling to a far-flung destination and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, an event that sees our favorite fashion pieces discounted up to 40 percent off. Only one of these things rank high in my book.

I have an aversion to traveling—and this is coming from someone who spent a couple of years regularly trekking through airport terminals. Some trips were short, a three-hour trip to O’Hare or Miami International, but more often than not, the destinations were LAX, Heathrow, or somewhere across the Atlantic. They were long and tiresome.

As a result, I’ve learned to maneuver through TSA lines, terminals, and planes efficiently. The point is to get in and out of the airport as quickly

Black member of Florida curriculum group fires back at Kamala Harris’ criticism

A prominent civil rights figure who helped craft Florida’s African American history standards has blasted Vice President Kamala Harris’ assessment of the curriculum as “categorically false.”

Dr. William Allen, former chairman of the US Commission on Civil Rights, says Harris was way off when he claimed in a speech last week that the standards suggested slavery was beneficial to black Americans.

“The only criticism I’ve encountered so far [on the new curriculum] is a single one that was articulated by the vice president, and which was an error,” Allen, who is black, told ABC News in footage touted by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ press secretary.

“As I stated in my response to the vice president, it was categorically false. It was never said that slavery was beneficial to Africans,” said Adams, who was on the working group that helped devise the curriculum.

Rural 2023: A Peak Japanese Electronic Music Festival

In his book The Practice of Everyday Life, French cultural theorist Michel de Certeau explores how stories can transform a place into a space, and vice versa. A place is created by intentionally arranging elements, while space takes into account the movement and activity therein. Rural, an electronic open-air music festival in the deep forests of Niigata, transforms de Certeau’s space-making theories into reality.

Location Legacy

The sleepy streets of Niigata’s ski resort town Yuzawa belie the area’s strong cultural roots. Home to Naeba Ski Resort — a venue many music lovers consider synonymous with Fuji Rock Festival — and Naeba Green Land, which housed Mindgames: The Labyrinth until 2019, it has surprising musical pedigree. Joining these illustrious ranks in mid-July, Naeba Green Land hosted Rural 2023, a party that returned to its outdoor origins for the first time in four years. Listed in Resident Advisor’s top 10

Previewing Nadeshiko Japan at the 2023 FIFA World Cup

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup kicked off in Auckland earlier today with co-hosts New Zealand taking on Norway just two hours after two people died following a shooting in the city. The team known as Nadeshiko Japan began their campaign in Hamilton this Saturday against debutants Zambia.

That match, as well as all the other games involving the 2011 winners, will be shown on NHK (mainly on the BS satellite channel) after the state broadcaster secured rights with just a week to spare. So, how will Japan fare? Here we take a closer look at Futoshi Ikeda’s side and analyze their chances of falling under. We begin, though, by looking back at their results in previous world cups.

Japan’s World Cup History

Japan has featured in every Women’s World Cup since the tournament began in 1991. They made little impact in the first five competitions, though, losing 12 of

WestJet CEO blames air traffic control for own airline’s flight delay

WestJet CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech argued this week that air traffic controllers were to blame for a 2.5-hour flight delay on his own airline.

Von Hoensbroech tweeted on Thursday that his flight to Vancouver had been delayed due to staffing issues at NAV Canada, the corporation behind Canada’s air traffic controllers.

“Frustrating!” von Hoensbroech wrote in the tweet. “We would have been perfectly on time, now many guests will miss their connections. Shows again why we need a proper shared accountability system across the entire sector!”

What do we know about Andrey Troshev, the man Putin proposed as the new Wagner boss

Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed to Wagner Group fighters that a senior mercenary named Andrey Troshev now command the private military group, according to comments the Russian leader made to the Kommersant newspaper.

Putin appears to have created a split between senior fighters from the Wagner mercenary group and its leader Yevgeny Prigozhin since its failed uprising last month – at least in terms of the narrative emerging from his comments to the Kommersant.

The paper was reporting at a meeting held by the Russian president five days after the Wagner rebellion collapsed at the end of June – a meeting attended by Prigozhin and several dozen senior Wagner combatants.

According to Kommersant, Putin told dozens of Wagner mercenaries in the meeting that among the multiple employment choices he offered to them, one included them continuing to fight under their direct commander, a man who goes by the call

3 Japanese Artists Who Started With Vocaloid Music

There’s no single way to break into the Japanese pop music scene. Many popular J-pop artists actually started their careers on Niconico, a Japanese video distribution service similar to YouTube. Many J-pop artists began by uploading their own covers of Vocaloid songs or produced and sang Vocaloid songs themselves. These singers are called utaite (people who cover previously released songs on video sharing sites) and Vocaloid producers, or “VocalP” in Japanese. Most utaite and Vocaloid producers do not reveal their faces online and utilize aliases to remain anonymous, some even choosing to stay anonymous after their major debut.

Since many of these Vocaloid musicians are breaking into and making it big in the Japanese music industry, we’ve rounded up a few Japanese artists who started with Vocaloid music.
