Flying Around the World (Literally) for Spring Break at Six Senses Yao Noi

Six Senses Yao Noi

Our first Six Senses stay was in Oman. I was traveling around the world with my 10-year-old daughter and we included a stop at Six Senses Zighy Bay because you could arrive at the hotel by paragliding in from a nearby mountain. We loved the resort, so I talked to the staff about which other Six Senses resorts were amazing and great for families. They recommended Six Senses Laamu in the Maldives and Six Senses Yao Noi in Thailand. We visited Laamu twice and loved it, and visited Six Senses Resorts in Vietnam and the Seychelles too, but never seemed to make it to Yao Noi.

This year my 12-year-old daughter has school breaks in February and April. She would turn 13 over her February break, so I left it up to her where she wanted to travel that week to celebrate. I showed her some

Agency owner’s message on Travel Agent Day 2023: “The reason we are here and thriving, is our travel advisors”

And while the Travel Agent Day perks are very much appreciated, Jamie Milton with Uniglobe Carefree Travel in Saskatoon, SK, tells Travelweek that just as important, if not more so, are words of appreciation and gratitude from supplier partners.

Especially when those kinds of words are broadcast for all to see via traditional and social media.

“Promotions and incentives are great and very much appreciated by travel advisors,” said Milton. “That being said, the feeling of being appreciated, valued and respected is also important. One of my favorite things to see suppliers do, is promote travel advisors to the general media, and through their own personal social media. Hearing well-known and respected suppliers promote travel advisors and all they do, is very impactful.”

It was at Uniglobe Carefree Travel – and thanks to travel advisor Colleen Lorenzen – that Travel Agent Day got its start back in 2011. On the

Carlee Russell traveling ‘six football fields’ during 911 call doesn’t make ‘any sense’: former detective

A former homicide detective said that the movement of Carlee Russell’s vehicle during the 911 call reporting a toddler on the Interstate does not make any sense.

Russell, 25, went missing on July 13 after calling 911 to report a toddler who was apparently walking on the side of Interstate 459 South near Birmingham, Alabama, around 9:24 pm, according to the Hoover Police Department.

After the 911 call, Russell called a relative and stopped talking but the line “remained open,” according to police. She returned home around 10:45 pm on July 15 and was taken to a hospital before being released.

During a press conference Wednesday, Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis said that Russell traveled “six football fields” – or 600 yards – during her 911 call in which she said she was following a 3 to 4-year-old child who was walking along the side of the interstate in a

8 Best Things To Do In Kefalonia

The biggest Greek island in the Ionian Sea, Kefalonia (sometimes spelled Cephalonia) is a paradise filled with stunning Mediterranean beaches, ancient sites, and seaside villages. Though Kefalonia has plenty to do, this island tends to be less popular than its more famous counterparts.

Since most travelers are booking tickets to Santorini or Mykonos, or similarly iconic destinations on the Aegean Sea side of Greece, you won’t face nearly as many crowds in Kefalonia, which lies on the west of the mainland, in the Ionian Sea.

Make no mistake: you’ll still be blessed with mesmerizing ocean views, crumbling ruins, and local hospitality that the Greek islands are famous for, but you can expect a little more space and fewer tourist traps to leave your pockets hurting.

Whitby woman allegedly acted as a travel agent, defrauded agencies of more than $245K

The Durham Region Police Service (DRPS) has charged a Whitby woman after she allegedly defrauded several agencies of more than $245,000 by fraudulently selling vacations for more than a decade.

DRPS’s Financial Crimes Unit began an investigation in 2020 after receiving reports that a woman was impersonating a travel agent and was ‘kiting.’

“Kiting is a common type of fraud in the travel industry, where an agent collects cash payments from clients and doesn’t apply the money to the client’s vacation, but rather pockets the cash,” police said in a press release.

“The female had been participating in this practice between 2011 and 2019, using a falsified Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) certificate and defrauded several travel agencies of more than $245,000.”

Police say the woman owns her own travel business called “Travel Girls Inc,” and has allegedly used more than 20 aliases while fraudulently selling vacations.

LOOKING BACK: Gary Rams reflects on the highs & lows of his 35-year career as a travel agent

It’s this camaraderie within the industry that Rams has valued most, particularly during travel’s biggest challenges like 9/11 and the COVID-19 pandemic. But Rams, ever the optimist, doesn’t waste time dwelling on the low points, focusing instead on the too-many-to-count highlights of his career, which include exploring Egyptian pyramids, strolling through Hoi An, Vietnam, drives game in Africa and discovering small towns in Peru.

“I have been fortunate to travel to many countries around the world over the years. But visiting a country isn’t just about seeing the sights, it’s also about getting to know the people, the one thing I am most proud of,” he says.

“Being a travel agent allows me to meet people from other countries and do business with them. From inbound operators to local tour guides to hotel staff, we’re giving them a means to feed their families, for their children to get an education,”

Google-Sabre Deal Lets Travel Agents Check Carbon Emissions for Flights

Skift Take

Accessing carbon emissions data for flights will one day be standard fare across the travel industry. These implementations are a sign of more to come.

Dennis Schaal

Travel agents using Saber’s desktop software have begun receiving carbon emission data when they search for flights, and corporations that use the company’s booking tool for road warriors, GetThere, will get access later this year.

Access to this data about which flights are the biggest polluters and those that have a somewhat more benign environmental impact — relatively speaking — comes through a several-year-old Saber partnership with Google.

For example, the data might estimate that a JFK to London Heathrow evening departure on Virgin Atlantic has 29 percent lower carbon emissions than all flights on that route on average. The idea is to help environmentally conscious travelers make informed decisions.

“Integrating emissions data from Google’s Travel Impact Model is an important

The Best Travel Agents in Calgary in July 2023

In a world where booking travel to countless exotic locales is simple enough to do with just a few mouse clicks, why would anyone want to use a travel agent? These huge sites have made it simple, and honest reviews minimize the chances of getting a dud hotel or booking a lackluster experience.

These sites do a good job of making it easy, too, offering flights, hotels, and various vacation packages. You just tell it where you want to go and what days work for you, and in a few minutes, there are seemingly countless options to choose from. They also have all sorts of last-minute deals, quite interesting for the right kind of traveler.

However, there are still a few reasons someone might want to use a travel agent. The sheer amount of variety can be overwhelming for many, and all they want is someone experienced to sort through
