9 Safety Tips for Women Traveling Alone

Hey, ladies! Planning on striking out on your own and experiencing the world? Amazing! Trust me, there’s nothing like solo travel to meet new people and live life on your terms. But, let’s face it, safety is always a concern. That’s why we’ve got some tips for you to keep secure on your journey. Don’t let fear hold you back – grab your backpack, hit the road, and don’t forget to read our safety tips below (they’re pretty useful for everyone, tbh).

Be a Local, Not a Tourist

Looking like a tourist can make you a prime target for pickpockets and thieves. Try to blend in by dressing like you live there and avoid standing in the middle of the street with a map. This will make it less obvious that you’re a tourist, and you’ll be less likely to attract unwanted attention.

Don’t Assume Your Fellow Countrymen Are Safe

How to Style Your Sapphire Engagement Ring for Daily Wear

Sapphire engagement rings have gained popularity for their stunning beauty and durability, making them an excellent choice for daily wear. Whether you’ve chosen a sapphire for its rich blue hue or its variety of other colors, styling it for everyday life can be both fun and practical. In Birmingham, engagement rings Birmingham featuring sapphires offer a unique and timeless appeal, combining elegance with durability. The key to styling a sapphire engagement ring for daily wear is finding the balance between showcasing its beauty and ensuring it complements your lifestyle.

First and foremost, when wearing a sapphire engagement ring daily, consider its setting. Opt for a low-profile setting that keeps the stone secure and protected from scratches or damage. A bezel or flush setting is ideal for someone with an active lifestyle, as it surrounds the sapphire, preventing it from catching on clothing or being exposed to harsh conditions. Additionally, consider …

Flying Around the World (Literally) for Spring Break at Six Senses Yao Noi

Six Senses Yao Noi

Our first Six Senses stay was in Oman. I was traveling around the world with my 10-year-old daughter and we included a stop at Six Senses Zighy Bay because you could arrive at the hotel by paragliding in from a nearby mountain. We loved the resort, so I talked to the staff about which other Six Senses resorts were amazing and great for families. They recommended Six Senses Laamu in the Maldives and Six Senses Yao Noi in Thailand. We visited Laamu twice and loved it, and visited Six Senses Resorts in Vietnam and the Seychelles too, but never seemed to make it to Yao Noi.

This year my 12-year-old daughter has school breaks in February and April. She would turn 13 over her February break, so I left it up to her where she wanted to travel that week to celebrate. I showed her some

A Review of Our Disney Fantasy Caribbean Cruise

A Disney Fantasy Cruise in the Western Caribbean

When I posted to Instagram that we were booked on a spring break Disney Fantasy Cruise, a lot of people DMed me to ask why. It’s a reasonable question – although we’ve been on a number of cruises, we don’t love cruises, and we’re not a big Disney family.

It goes back a decade. When my kids were small, starting at 1, 3 and 5-years-old, we did three 12-night Disney Cruises in Europe. We booked them because they were easy – unpack once and see a lot of cool places – and because Disney is, by definition, family-friendly. Our kids went to the kids club a few times, and waited in line for character photos every once in a while, but really they just enjoyed the ship and the independence, since they could run around by themselves, and we (the parents) liked

Agency owner’s message on Travel Agent Day 2023: “The reason we are here and thriving, is our travel advisors”

And while the Travel Agent Day perks are very much appreciated, Jamie Milton with Uniglobe Carefree Travel in Saskatoon, SK, tells Travelweek that just as important, if not more so, are words of appreciation and gratitude from supplier partners.

Especially when those kinds of words are broadcast for all to see via traditional and social media.

“Promotions and incentives are great and very much appreciated by travel advisors,” said Milton. “That being said, the feeling of being appreciated, valued and respected is also important. One of my favorite things to see suppliers do, is promote travel advisors to the general media, and through their own personal social media. Hearing well-known and respected suppliers promote travel advisors and all they do, is very impactful.”

It was at Uniglobe Carefree Travel – and thanks to travel advisor Colleen Lorenzen – that Travel Agent Day got its start back in 2011. On the

5 Reasons to Visit Glacier National Park This Summer

Glacier National Park with Kids

A few summers ago, in conjunction with Visit Montana, my 7-year-old daughter and I flew to Whitefish, Montana and explored Whitefish and Glacier National Park for four days. It remains one of my favorite trips – it was an easy destination from Los Angeles, the hiking, kayaking and fly fishing were great, the park was gorgeous, and we had lots of fun. I love the bonding when I go on adventures with just one of my kids.

I never posted about the trip on my blog, however. So now that we’ve visited a lot of other National Parks the past few years (including Arches National Park) it’s time for a post on Glacier National Park. Here are the top five things we love, and the reasons you should book a trip!
