Hotels Roll Out the Red Carpet for Pets

As anyone who travels with a pet knows, sometimes questions or concerns about their health or behavior arise while you’re on the road. If you happen to be at a Canopy by Hilton, Embassy Suites by Hilton, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton by Hilton or Tru by Hilton hotel in the United States or Canada, you’re able to get free virtual support from a service called Mars PET On-Demand from Mars Petcare, a pet products and services company. Guests can gain access to the service via a phone help line and a website with a live-chat feature and get advice and answers to questions about pet health, wellness and behavior. Last year, Hilton announced that it had expanded its partnership with Mars Petcare, as well as its pet-friendly offerings, to more than 4,600 hotels in the United States and Canada. If you want an extra level of quirk and playfulness, head to Mama Shelter Shoreditch (Mama Shelter)

Since the start of the 21st century, no other part of London has changed quite as much as Shoreditch. What was once an almost no-go outpost of the capital, butting up against the Square Mile, has become prime real estate.

Now it’s a bustling, buzzing hive of creative energy, ranging from art and fashion to media, music and tech. And when all of that arrives, then great food, nightlife, shopping, and – of course – hotels, will surely follow.

Plus, it couldn’t be easier to head east (or west) for a visit now, thanks to the Elizabeth Line. Whether you’re here for a long time or a short time or even if only to check out one of the many markets on offer, there really is a hotel for everyone.

Here’s our guide

Reaching for the Stars with Dante

Today we are talking about the Italian language. Its beauty, its history beginning with Dante Alighieri, and how we can use this time when many of us cannot travel to Italy, to be able to assimilate once we land in Il Bel Paese.

We all tend to equate Italy with antiquity, and with such a vast history it is easy to assume that Italy as a country is quite ancient itself. So, a lot of people are surprised to learn that Italy, a unified Italy as we know it today was only established in 1865. The same year our Civil War here in the states came to and end.

So, what about the language? Well, we owe modern-day Italian very much to the Florentine poet, Dante Alighieri who broke with the tradition of writing poetry in Latin and chose

Passion for Italy Podcast #16: Italian Holiday

Ciao this is Allison Spiegel with Passion For Italy Travel in New York. Happy holidays! As we start to wrap up a year that has seen such significant change and heartbreak, we are reminded of how lucky we are to be healthy and safe, and we hope all of you are as well. While we have been unable to travel abroad this year, nothing can take away our ability to dream about our next travel destination. Hotels are not allowed to make free offers to voters: Bengaluru civic body | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: While two restaurants in the city had made offers to provide free breakfast and food to those who cast their votes on Wednesday, such initiatives are expected to draw the ire of the Election Commission of India.
Taking cognizance of the offers being circulated on social media, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath told TOI these are not allowed. He advised all eaters not to offer such things, and said “otherwise cases will be booked”. The owners of the two restaurants — Nisarga Grand and Chalukya Samrat — had told TOI that the initiative was free of political affiliation or bias, and hoped only to increase voter turnout in the city. Back in 2018, Bengaluru reported a small turnout of 54.7%. The various offers to voters aimed to increase polling numbers, they said.

Sator, Arepo, Tenet, Opera, Rotas · Passion For Italy Travel

The Ancient Magic Square.

The church of San Pietro ad Oratorium is in the municipality of Capestrano about 40 km from L’Aquila. Left of the main portal there is a stone, a relic of the ancient 9th-century construction, inserted into the walls upside down. It contains the so-called ancient magical square, formed by five words of five letters each that can be read from left to right, from right to left, from top to bottom and from the bottom to top.

The five words “rotas – opera – tenet – arepo – sator” that means “everywhere-operates-holds-plow-sower”, have been variously interpreted, and some researchers thought that they hid the anagram of “Pater Noster”.

One likely translation is The farmer Arepo has [as] works wheels [a plough]; that is, the farmer uses his plow as his form of work.

The church was believed to be founded in 752 by Desiderius, the

New York City plans to temporarily house migrants in hotels in other counties. One county is suing to stop it

CNN

Following New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ announcement last week that the city will bus some migrants to hotels in nearby counties temporarily, officials in Orange County filed two lawsuits on Friday attempting to stop the plan – even as some migrants have already arrived.

Filed in state court in Orange County, one of the lawsuits obtained by CNN alleges that the city’s plan exceeds its authority, violates a county executive order and bypasses shelter licensing requirements. It asks the court to issue a preliminary injunction blocking the city’s plan while the proceedings are pending.

Orange County officials “oppose the City Respondents’ illegal and misguided attempts to manage their burdens and assumed responsibilities within their borders by offloading them onto the County, which is already overburdened with responsibilities to its own citizens, with no planning whatsoever,” according to the lawsuit.

Adams had said the new program intends to
