Mexico Travel Hotspot Expecting Increase in Tourists This Summer

New data from the Mexican government shows that Quintana Roo remains a top tourism destination, with almost two million visitors expected during the 2023 summer travel period.

According to the Riviera Maya News, State Tourism Secretary Bernardo Cueto Riestra revealed that projections suggest an estimated 1.8 million tourists will generate $1.7 billion in income for Quintana Roo this summer.

Riestra said that the tourism estimates are 4.4 percent higher than last year and are a result of the promotion by the state government to “ensure that a greater number of visitors reach state destinations.”

Data showed that Quintana Roo destinations had all experienced growth compared to 2022, but Bacalar topped the list with an increase of almost 20 percent expected this summer.

Fisherman’s House (“La Casita del Pescador” in Spanish) is a small “capricho” construction in the northern part of Retiro Park in Madrid. It was conceived as a personal whim of the king who saved Retiro Park. The house was destined to offer his majesty a place to rest and is located on the central island of a pond where, back in the day, you could even fish.

After the War of Independence, the park was badly damaged and was rebuilt by King Fernando VII. During this Renaissance, exotic and beautiful constructions such as the Persian Hall and Fisherman’s House were created.
