Munich Ranks 3rd in Europe for “Friendliest Travel Destinations 2023”

In a travel company ranking, Munich made it to third place in the “friendliest travel destinations 2023”, in all of Europe. With a total score of 8.26 out of a possible 10 points, the state capital falls behind Zurich and Copenhagen, the two places that came first and second. Berlin also fares well and makes it into the top 10. With 6.31 points, the German capital is in seventh place.

The ranking is based on four indices
The hospitality of the city is measured according to four different indicators: crime and safety, LGBTQ friendliness, fear of pick-pocketing and life satisfaction/happiness. According to the travel company’s website, various data sets were used to create the ranking and to assess the cities according to the four criteria.

Data for the Crime and Safety Index and the percentage of people afraid of pick-pocketing comes from surveys by Numbeo – a crowd-sourced online database.

Experts Forecast Less Sargassum This Summer for Mexico’s Top Beaches

Officials in cities along the Mexican Caribbean revealed that distance, speed of travel and currents have resulted in experts forecasting a non-existent flow of sargassum seaweed this summer.

According to the Riviera Maya News, Director of the Quintana Roo Sargassum Monitoring Network, Esteban Jesus Amaro Mauricio, said Cancun, the Riviera Maya and other key travel destinations will be sargassum-free this summer vacation season.

Amaro Mauricio revealed that daily monitoring of the stinky seaweed showed a lack of arrival for the next three months, due to the distance, speed of travel and currents of the sargassum coming from Africa.

“From what we have been observing through the satellite it is very clean,” Amaro Mauricio told the Riviera Maya News. “There is almost no sargassum between Jamaica and the Yucatan Peninsula. As the sargassum continues to move north as it

Fisherman’s House (“La Casita del Pescador” in Spanish) is a small “capricho” construction in the northern part of Retiro Park in Madrid. It was conceived as a personal whim of the king who saved Retiro Park. The house was destined to offer his majesty a place to rest and is located on the central island of a pond where, back in the day, you could even fish.

After the War of Independence, the park was badly damaged and was rebuilt by King Fernando VII. During this Renaissance, exotic and beautiful constructions such as the Persian Hall and Fisherman’s House were created. Isidro González Velázquez designed this house and surrounded it with a pond for anglers to enjoy. The house has a striking pinkish body, adorned with Pompeian-style paintings and frescoes and with niches, where Roman busts once stood.

Caribbean Destinations Aim to Sustain Post-Pandemic Visitor Growth

Caribbean destinations are seeking to manage a profound post-outbreak visitor surge highlighted by a series of new flight options across several countries and strong 2023-2024 passenger growth projections around the region.

“Our islands continue to get strong and better post-COVID,” said Kenneth Bryan, chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), at a June 8 press briefing during the group’s Caribbean Week conference in New York.

“Many islands are doing better than they were in 2019,” Bryan said. “As you know our average daily rates are through the roof, although some countries haven’t gone back to the [visitor] volume [posted pre-pandemic].”

Growth Patterns

Several Caribbean nations are celebrating visitor arrivals that approach or break levels achieved in 2019, prior to the pandemic. Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica’s tourism minister, said the country continues to experience significant traveler growth.

The Habsburgs
