The American magazine company TIME released its annual list of the 100 most influential companies in the world, with several travel-related brands making the list.

The list comprises five categories—Leaders, Disrupters, Innovators, Titans and Pioneers—by TIME editors who evaluate each company based on key factors, including impact, innovation, ambition and success.

In the Leaders category, adventure tour operator Intrepid Travel made the annual list, with the magazine highlighting the brand’s environmentally and socially responsible options. Intrepid “saw record-breaking booking days after launching a flight-free program (and more than 100 Indigenous-led tours) last year.”

SpaceX also found itself listed among the Leaders category, partly due to the company’s dedication to the emerging space tourism market. Elon Musk’s company launched 61 Falcon 9 flights last year, “making it the world’s workhorse rocket.”

An Encounter with Elegance at The Westin Miyako Kyoto

Wit a variety of sacred sights drawing in millions of visitors each year, Japan’s former capital has several luxury accommodation options, although few could ever claim to encapsulate the area’s history quite like The Westin Miyako Kyoto. Situated on a hillside in Keage, where Lake Biwa flows into Kyoto, the hotel offers a one-of-a-kind stay for anyone looking to experience the best of Kyoto, both past and present.

Ties with Nature

Setting foot in the lobby, guests will be met with smooth marble, lush greenery and sparkling ceiling art pieces that reflect an astonishing level of design. This attentive nature is further displayed through the hotel’s staff members, who welcome guests with warm enthusiasm. While these aspects alone are enough to warrant a stay, it’s the traditional Japanese annex Kasui-en that sets The Westin Miyako Kyoto apart.

Fumito Ganryu’s Genderless Visions of Fashion

For outsiders, fashion can, at times, seem frivolous, superfluous and the antithesis of serious culture and art. This could be considered a fallacy, however, as fashion and clothing both reflect and embody the times and specific periods or trends.

For Fumito Ganryu, fashion is one of the true independent art forms alongside sculpture, architecture, painting and literature. Often, these art forms collaborate and engender new art forms and aesthetics, as seen, for example, in the work of celebrated designer Raf Simons at Dior with leading contemporary artist Sterling Ruby and in the paradigm-shifting work of dancer Michael Clark and Manchester indie heroes The Fall in the performance “I Am Curious, Orange.”

In 2017, Ganryu left iconic Japanese fashion brand Comme des Garçons and established his own eponymous brand, Fumito Ganryu, in 2018. He celebrated his first release at acclaimed menswear arena Pitti Uomo, and his show there cemented him as

Travel tips for flying with your pet

Wen-Ling Lin moved from Vancouver to Toronto for work, and often flies home to see her friends and family.

“We love taking Kygo on trips. He is obviously the best travel companion and we want to show him the world. He is my fur baby,” Lin told CTV News Toronto.

Lin said she had taken her two-year-old French bulldog Kygo to Vancouver six times and each time the experience went very well.

“The carrier sits right below my feet. He just sits in it and he goes to sleep usually. We zip it up and he goes right underneath the seat,” said Lin.

Since Kygo is a smaller dog, he is allowed to be in the cabin with Lin. However, larger dogs may have to stay in a pet crate that will go in checked luggage or cargo.

Second flight carrying migrants lands in Sacramento; California officials say Florida set up travel | NanaimoNewsNOW

Spokespeople for the Florida Division of Emergency Management and Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has not confirmed Florida’s involvement.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP’s earlier story follows below.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Florida appears to have arranged for a group of South American migrants to be transported from Texas to California and dropped off in Sacramento, California’s attorney general said, noting that he’s looking into whether any crimes may have been committed.

If true, the 16 Colombian and Venezuelan migrants who turned up at the Roman Catholic Church diocese’s headquarters in Sacramento on Friday would be the latest to have been moved from a Republican-led state to one led by Democrats.

The migrants had documents that appeared to be issued by the state of Florida, although the circumstances surrounding their arrival were still under investigation, Attorney General Rob Bonta said Saturday.

He also said he’s evaluating whether violations of

Changes to Restrictions on Travel and Activities in the Woods

The Province is lifting restrictions on travel and activities in the woods in all areas except for Shelburne County and anywhere evacuation orders are in place, effective 12:01 am, Monday, June 5.

“We know that using our woods and trails is important to many Nova Scotians’ physical and mental health,” said Tory Rushton, Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables. “Thanks to the weather conditions have improved in the province, but we still need to be cautious. We are keeping the burn tires in place and asking people to continue to be responsible while enjoying the outdoors.”

Activities that are now permitted include hiking, camping, fishing and the use of vehicles in the woods. The provincewide burn tires are still in place. The fine for violating the tires is $25,000.

Evacuation orders are still in place. People are asked to stay away from all wildfire areas.

Wolverine spotted in California, the state’s 2nd sighting in last 100 years, officials say

A wolverine was spotted in three different locations in California last month – the second sighting of the animal in the state in the last 100 years, officials said Thursday.

The wolverine was spotted in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains, the Inyo National Forest in Inyo and Mono counties and in Yosemite National Park in Tuolumne County, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife said in a news release.

Witnesses captured images and videos of the wolverine, taken in May, and sent the evidence to the wildlife department who consulted with experts from the US Forest Service.

Scientists identified the animal as a wolverine by its size, body proportion, coloration and movement patterns, the wildlife department said in a news release.
