German travel operators are responding to intense price pressure in the travel market. Many families, in particular, can no longer afford rising prices for package holidays, prompting companies to adjust their purchasing strategies.
Coral Travel, based in Düsseldorf, is one such provider. Since tourism’s post-pandemic resurgence, high travel costs have forced a change in how operators source products. While a trend toward premium vacations continues, families are increasingly opting for affordable three and four-star hotels to still be able to afford a package holiday.
Budget-Friendly Options in Egypt and Tunisia
Coral Travel and its brand Ferien Touristik have specifically tailored their offerings for budget-conscious travelers for the coming winter and the summer of 2027. Product manager for Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia, Melanie Pitz, recommends several options. These include the three-star Turtle’s Inn in El Gouna and the 3.5-star Giftun Azur Resort in Hurghada, which is particularly popular with repeat guests.
For Tunisia, Coral Travel offers numerous three and four-star hotels in regions like Hammamet, Sousse, Monastir, and Djerba. Pitz highlights the four-star Delphin El Habib in Monastir and the four-star Samira Club in Hammamet as especially good value.
Greece: Focus on Crete and Rhodes
In Greece, Coral Travel has added many three and four-star hotels to its program, particularly on the islands of Crete and Rhodes. Some properties are exclusive to the German market through Coral, such as the four-star Blue Sea Holiday Village on Rhodes, which features a new aquapark this season. The three-star Sun Beach Lindos on Rhodes was modernized in its outdoor and pool areas for 2026.

On Crete, the Marvida Nuvon remains an exclusive property, having been fully renovated last winter. For the 2027 season, product manager Julia Mann adds the new Anissa Oasis, located next to the four-star Anissa Beach & Village. Another four-star tip is the recently renovated Cactus Village, which reopened in June 2026.
New Destinations and Hotels
For long-haul destinations, Coral Travel is focusing on Thailand, a market with a strong trend toward numerous three and four-star hotels at lower price points. The company can also leverage its own incoming agency there. New to the winter program are the Ibis Styles Phuket Bangtao and the three-star Chaweng Cove Beach Resort on Koh Samui.
On Mauritius, Coral Travel offers primarily three and four-star hotels under the Attitude brand, which provide authentic, sustainability-focused experiences, according to product manager Basil Teufer. Examples include the adults-only three-star Tropical Attitude and the family-friendly four-star Zilwa Attitude.
